Our history
Since the early 2000s, we have been helping companies reduce their energy consumption and product losses. We know more is achieved when you collaborate, so Egain IWMAC, Cebyc, and Moldeo joined forces, creating one Kiona in 2021.
We may be a technology group, but first and foremost, we are problem-solvers. We see it as our mission to make the world a little better than it is today because we know that we have to play our part. Luckily, many share our vision.
Today, we're backed by a fantastic team of investors and partners worldwide. Facing challenges with guts and a healthy dose of optimism, we see only opportunity in the future. And if you are like us, who believe only the sky's the limit, you'll fit right in.
The new brand, Kiona, was launched in 2021 when the well-established solutions IWMAC, Energinet, Edge, and Web Port merged into one platform. In 2023, Carel became the majority shareholder. Our strategy, commitment to being an independent partner, and people remain the same. Having Carel's backing means we can further strengthen our product development and continue to deliver on what we do best.
The story behind
Trond-Øystein Bjørnnes, CEO of Kiona
It's all about a good idea and the drive to be able to start my own company for myself and my employees. A good idea and trying to get people on board, and most importantly, meeting the right people to actually establish a business. Developing something from the ground up, getting customers to choose us, and becoming a preferred supplier were the motivations and driving forces.
Success comes when the small things are in place. When we see good flow both within and across departments, and customers give us positive feedback, I know we're on the right track. I focus on the present, solve new problems with the tools I have – and learn new ones when needed.
