High standards for certification in the Nordic region's tallest office building

Citygate in Gothenburg is the tallest office building in the Nordic region, standing at an impressive 144 meters, built by Skanska. Citygate was completed in 2022 with both LEED Platinum and WELL Gold certifications. Our partner, INUstyr, has been the responsible contractor for ensuring that delivery and functionality meet the certification requirements. Both Web Port and Energinet play key roles in this complex project.

Project overview

At Citygate, owned by Skanska Fastigheter and managed by Coor, the building's technical control system for heating, ventilation, and cooling has been connected to the local Web Port HMI. This local connection is reflected in Skanska's overall cloud solution, featuring Web Port SCADA.

Detailed energy and water consumption monitoring

In addition to real-time monitoring and connection of property technical systems, Web Port also enables the collection of all energy usage, broken down by technology type and tenant. Skanska also chose to implement Energinet, through our partner INUstyr, for energy monitoring. This is achieved through dashboards and reports from all consumption meters within the Citygate energy network – a total of over 250! Skanska has also connected its other managed buildings – Aqua, Epic, Oas, and Hyllie Terrass in Malmö – to Energinet.

Monitoring for LEED Platinum certification

One requirement of LEED Platinum certification is that building owners monitor total consumption and track where energy is used within the building. In addition to tracking the building's energy performance, Energinet enables detailed monitoring of tenants' energy and water consumption. This allows Skanska and Coor to identify deviations, optimise consumption, and create transparency for tenants.

Commissioning and integration of systems

The Citygate project involves a variety of different systems, including physical installations in the buildings and software platforms for collecting, structuring, and visualising data. INUstyr is responsible for technical commissioning, while Coor Service Management manages ongoing operations. Both use Web Port and Energinet, solutions for technical management, optimisation, and monitoring energy and sustainability.
